Cooperation agreement between ICC and ACPR

The ICC concluded a cooperation agreement with the Autorité de Contrôle Prudentiel et de Résolution (ACPR), where the strategic objectives were set in line with the present context of the Lebanese insurance market. The agreement is unlimited in time; it paves the way for an advanced level of cooperation including the exchange of financial and technical information on the supervised entities. The agreement was concluded following a number of exchanges with the market conduct and international affairs departments of the ACPR.

Mrs. Nadine El Habbal, Acting Head of the ICC, stated that this agreement is signed at a time where the reinforcement of bilateral cooperation between insurance regulators is an essential part of the supervisory effort aiming to spread best practices and strengthen the controls on market practices and the financial condition of insurance companies.

La Commission de Contrôle des Assurances (CCA) a signé un accord de coopération avec l’Autorité de Contrôle Prudentiel et de Résolution (ACPR), dont les objectifs stratégiques émanent des besoins du marché libanais. L’accord est signé pour une durée indéterminée, et prépare le terrain pour une coopération avancée qui inclurait l’échange d’information sur les situations techniques et financières des entités supervisées. L’accord fut signé suite à des échanges avec les directions respectives de contrôle des pratiques commerciales et des affaires internationales de l’ACPR.

Mme Nadine El Habbal, Présidente par intérim de la CCA, a souligné que cette initiative est faite dans un contexte propice, où les accords bilatéraux de coopération entre les régulateurs prennent un rôle prépondérant dans le travail de supervision, contribuant ainsi aux efforts d’assainissement des pratiques commerciales et du renforcement de la situation financière des compagnies d’assurance.
